What you need to know when it comes it Resin surfaces…

Whether you choose bonded or bound aggregates,  with the option to use edgings, colours, patterns and shapes the possibilities are almost endless with either product.

Resin bonded surfaces

Resin bonded surfacing (or paving) systems have become very popular in recent years as people look for alternatives to tarmac, concrete, block paving or loose gravel.

The technique involves the use of a high-strength resin to bind selected decorative aggregates to a base or substrate to create an attractive, hard wearing, traffic friendly surface, with a high-degree of traction for both pedestrian and vehicle use.

Resin bonded surface is a hard wearing surface that can be used internally or externally.  It can be laid in a wide range of colours.

It is non porous and there is a need for drainage/soak aways to control surface water

Below are just a few examples of colours

  • Attractive, decorative surfaces
  • Natural colours to compliment surroundings
  • Highly durable
  • Bonds strongly
  • Solvent-free
  • No odour either during or after application
  • Flexible, even at low temperatures
  • Neutral or coloured grades
  • Eco-friendly
  • Low maintenance

Resin bound surfaces

Resin bound surfacing is made from mixing the selected decorative aggregate coated with a clear UV-stable polyurethane resin. It is troweled to a flat, smooth finish and can be laid in a large amount of colours, patterns and shapes.

Resin bound is a totally water permeable product that will return surface water to the ground eliminating the need for soak aways/ drainage and the need to apply for permission as with hard standing surfaces

It is recommended that a resin bound surface should be laid to a depth of 15mm for a pool surround, footpath or terrace and 18mm for a driveway and car park

Below are just a few examples of colours

  • No loose stones
  • Restricts weed growth
  • Solvent-free
  • Odour free both during and after application
  • Environmentally friendly, biomass-based resin component
  • SuDS (Sustainable Drainage System) compliant
  • Non-slip (anti-skid) aggregates can be added
  • For external or internal (with suitable clear sealer) use
  • Flexible curing times
  • Available in Standard and UVR (ultra violet resistant) grades
  • Wide range of colours and textures
